Every now and again I like to put my money where my mouth is and put my own gigs on and I have two juicy ones this year that for some unknown reason, I’ve not shared with you here! Both are in my neck of the woods (Manchester) and will celebrate bands that you don’t get to see in Manchester very often.
First up this year I’m bringing the mighty force of Hollowstar to Manchester. These Cambridgeshire rockers have been on my faves list for a while now and I absolutely love them. Besides regular airplay on my radio show, they’re getting played regularly by the big boys such as Radio 2 and Planet Rock and have just finished a tour with Stone Broken. It’s about time they headlined and I’m proud to say that their first headline show in Manchester is with me on the 31st May at the iconic Star and Garter! The gig is part of their UK tour which is definitely worth checking out if you can’t get to my date. Support comes from the awesome Florence Black along with Matt Mitchell and The Coldhearts. Tickets are less than a tenner and come with cake. The gig was only announced yesterday and is already halfway to being sold out so I’d suggest being quick if you don’t want to be posting “are there any spare tickets for this” on Facebook! Head here to grab yours.
Secondly is my Summer Shindig! I like to have a party and thought a summer one would be lovely! Headlined by the legends that are The King Lot (who pretty much never get to Manchester), this is a night not to be missed. Support comes from Leeds party rockers Late Night Legacy and Glasgow groove rockers Black King Cobra. This is a bill you won’t see very often so make the most of it! Oh and your ticket also includes entry to a club night hosted by my good self until 2am. And you know I bring the tunes. It’s the Bank Holiday so may as well start it as you mean to go on. VIP tickets are sold out and you can still just about grab what’s left here.
I think it’s so important for you to understand what your ticket money is funding so I want to be transparent about where it goes. It pays the bands. All bands who play my shows are paid, and paid a decent rate, regardless of how many people show up. They’re also fed and watered at my shows at no extra cost to themselves. Sometimes I even throw in a hotel room. Anything left over goes straight back into the work I do as The Rock Fairy.
